Parenting Education

The Family, Infant and Preschool Program Parenting Education Program (Parenting Club) is regularly scheduled at FIPP Family Resource Centers and by request at other community locations. The program is designed as a parenting support and education group for parents with children ages birth through age eight. The Parenting Club meets for six to eight consecutive weeks and provides information and activities based on participants identified desires. Together, parents and facilitators;

  • Reflect on individual parenting strengths and priorities
  • Gain an understanding and appreciation of the strengths and interests of each child
  • Share strategies for setting and conveying clear, fair, and consistent expectations and consequences
  • Develop and meet self-identified family goals
  • Facilitate on going parent-to-parent support
  • Discuss parenting strategies

During parent discussions children participate in development enhancing activities facilitated by an early childhood family specialist on site. Parenting Club concludes with parent-child together time. Facilitators and other parents are available to support and give immediate feedback to one another.

Foundation of Parenting Club

Parenting Club is based on a capacity building philosophy that recognizes the talents and abilities of parents, caregivers, and families. Focus throughout the eight week session is on the promotion of and the expansion of these existing talents and abilities.
