This learning module describes the consequences of both constructive and destructive forms of marital conflict on children's adjustment and well being. Additionally, some recommendations are given for parents about how to handle conflict more constructively.

The Use of Coaching by Registered Nurses as a Practice Method for Supporting Patients and Families

Visualize yourself working as a nurse in a doctor's office and in walks Mr. Miller. He has been in the office multiple times in the last few months with the same issue - high blood sugar. You have told him on numerous occasions to diet and exercise and the doctor has even prescribed medication, but Mr. Miller has not complied. What are you to do? How can you effectively support Mr. Miller around his diabetes?


If you have ever been in a situation like this, then "coaching" may be your answer. The Use of Coaching by Registered Nurses as a Practice Method for Supporting Patients and Families is a learning module designed to introduce you to a new nursing paradigm or model for effectively supporting your patients.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

The target audience for this module is registered nurses working in all settings.

  • Define coaching and describe the purpose and goals
  • Identify key characteristics of adult learners and of coaching
