EHS Infant-Toddler Teacher
Job responsibilities include:
The Early Head Start Lead Infant Toddler Teacher provides direct care and supervision for a classroom of eight children and one assistant teacher and well as coordinating and ensuring the comprehensive services and supports to the children enrolled in the class. The position involves working with children birth through age three and pregnant women. Services must be provided in accordance with FIPP mission, vision, and principles and Early Head Start federal regulations. Some travel and attendance at FIPP meetings are required. Depending upon assignment of work location, this position requires travel to areas within Alexander, Burke, or Caldwell counties.
Prerequisites:
Lead Infant-Toddler Teachers must have a four-year degree in early childhood education or complete a four-year degree within 12 months of hire. The Lead Teacher must have a strong understanding of child development and developmental disabilities, positive parenting, capacity building, and child health and wellness issues. Must possess the ability to understand and relate well to others. Must have a philosophical approach aligned with a promotional, asset-based, and interest-based learning model. Must have ability to practice effective communication techniques, both orally and in writing; ability to interpret program policies, rules, regulations, and procedures for organizational personnel, and the general public; ability to analyze problem areas of work and recommend solutions to supervisor; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and other members of the organization.
Bachelor's degree in an education-related field and three years experience working with children and families in a classroom or home-based setting, and/or equivalent education and experience. Early Educator Certification preferred, but not required.
